Platform 22 is a ceramics studio run by Emma and David Pattullo. We produce a range of ceramics including hand painted table and giftware, commemorative plates and bowls and tiles for interior decoration. Most of our work is bespoke but we do produce one-off art pieces and we are currently introducing some new "stock" items featuring our popular bumble bee motif. As well as producing our own designs we also run pottery classes at Platform 22 and information regarding these can be found by subscribing to our newsletter, see adjacent column. An integral part of the business is our gallery and coffee house where we have on display a range of works by local artists and craft makers. The selection of work includes paintings, prints, photographs as well as 3D work in wood, glass and ceramics. The gallery hosts a range of exhibitions and events, and stocks a diverse range of cards, jewellery, fashion accessories and gifts. The coffee shop serves a full range of coffees, teas and hot chocolate as well as cold drinks and delicious home baking! Platform 22 is open from 10 am to 5 pm Tuesday to Saturday. |

Platform 22 sits on the site of the old Torphins Station, a stop on the former Deeside Railway line, hence the name! Torphins itself is a quiet village on Deeside about 21 miles from the centre of Aberdeen. Situated at the southwestern end of the Hill of Fare it offers great scope for walking and cycling and the chance to spot a variety of wildlife including roe deer, red squirrels and buzzards. Apart from the odd remnants of the railway line, including Satan's Den, there are the various sites associated with Macbeth to visit in the neighbouring village of Lumphanan. The Tarland Trail featuring a wide range of historical sites including Sunhoney Stone Circle, Cunninghar Motte, Craigievar Castle and the Dinnet Nature Reserve runs just to the north of Torphins and information regarding the Trail is available at Platform 22. |
