ABOUT ME ~ For as long as I can remember I have loved drawing and at the age of seven I went to pottery  workshops at Chelsea Pottery, London which started another passion, to create through clay. I like to think I can turn my hand to anything, from illustration, printing and design to textiles, jewellery and painting. However, my true love is ceramics, I always return to it! That said, I don't class myself as a "potter" in the true sense of the word, instead I prefer to call myself a ceramic artist.

My work is constantly evolving, resulting in a wide range of ceramics. Although I produce functional pieces my style tends to lean towards sculptural pieces of artwork. I am inspired by many sources and ideas around me and enjoy experimenting with different techniques, form and texture. Colour has largely been a secondary challenge, but occasionally I like to make it the primary concern as when working with series such as my Butterfly & Bumblebee  Platters. PAINTING ~ I recently rediscovered my love for painting. Concentrating mainly on still-life painting and working in acrylic, I am enjoying the process of really studying and looking at the subject matter in detail.

COMMISSIONS ~ Working closely with clients I produce commemorative platters, bowls and tiles for birthdays, baby namings, and weddings anniversaries; to list but a few special occasions.  I also produce bespoke hand-painted wall tiles for decorative use around the house.

TEACHING & PARTIES ~ I love to share my knowledge and enjoy seeing how people make their own unique pieces. I hold classes mainly at Platform 22 and from other venues around Aberdeenshire. Pottery Parties are a great idea for a child's party providing creative fun, a lasting memento for the child and the flexibility of a party at home. Adults too can enjoy these parties, brilliant for birthdays, baby showers or a relaxing night in.
