Find David Pattullo

ABOUT ME ~ I studied landscape architecture at Edinburgh College of Art graduating in 1985. Following this I took up graphic design for a couple of years before moving to Aberdeenshire to set up and  run a backpackers hostel. As well as running the hostel the next fifteen years also saw me work as a chimney sweep, astronomy tutor and sometime pig keeper (they had a habit of escaping). In 2004 I moved to Torphins and set up Platform 22 in partnership with Emma. This marked a return to my earlier interest in art and design and in the ensuing years I have started to dabble once again in garden design and graphics. My landscape work is, unsurprisingly, influenced by the local environment and I enjoy working with natural materials, wood and stone, as well as with native plants. The history of Aberdeenshire has also provided inspiration in the form of Pictish art and prehistoric artifacts and I have just completed my first stone circle. My graphic and illustrative work is still at an early stage, and most of my time in the gallery is spent on administration, but in the next year I hope to be able to commit my ideas to paper.
